Senior Java Backend Engineer

About the role

Mercury Teknoloji is building a next‑generation shipping platform for life‑sciences and healthcare companies. As a Senior Java Backend Engineer you will design, develop and maintain the core services that power time‑critical, temperature‑sensitive shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test and maintain scalable, secure micro‑service APIs using Java 9+, Spring Boot and related technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps and front‑end teams to define requirements, build CI/CD pipelines and ensure observability.
• Implement event‑driven messaging with Kafka, manage PostgreSQL data models and integrate authentication (OAuth, JWT).
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews and drive continuous improvement of the backend chapter.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend development experience with Java, including 4+ years with Java 9+.
• Strong understanding of OOP, algorithms and problem‑solving.
• Excellent communication in English and ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams.

• RESTful API design, microservices architecture, Kafka
• PostgreSQL, OAuth, JWT, Git, Linux shell scripting
• Unit testing, TDD, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes (preferred)
