Senior R&D Engineer – Indoor Positioning

About the role

Pointr is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to advance its indoor‑outdoor positioning engine that powers the blue‑dot experience in airports, hospitals and corporate campuses. You will bridge research and production, turning noisy sensor data into reliable location estimates on iOS, Android, WebAssembly and backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Improve accuracy, responsiveness and robustness of positioning algorithms across diverse venues, devices and conditions.
• Research, develop and evaluate both classical estimation and machine‑learning approaches, validating improvements on real venue data.
• Build and maintain offline replay, regression suites and simulation tools for continuous measurement.
• Implement production‑grade code in the shared C++ core and native iOS/Android scanning layers, ensuring performance, thread safety and test coverage.
• Translate field issues into reproducible test cases and engine enhancements, using AI coding agents daily.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with performance‑sensitive production code.
• Strong grounding in probabilistic state estimation, sensor fusion and recursive Bayesian filtering.
• Solid applied mathematics background (linear algebra, probability, numerical methods, geometry).
• Experience handling noisy real‑world sensor time series and automating validation.
• Daily use of AI coding agents and ability to critically review their output.
