Senior/Lead GCP Data Engineer

About the role

ING Hubs Türkiye is seeking a Senior/Lead GCP Data Engineer to design, build and optimise scalable cloud‑native data platforms on Google Cloud. You will enable AI‑driven products, machine‑learning initiatives and advanced analytics across ING’s international network.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines on GCP using PySpark, Airflow and related technologies.
• Build and optimise data ingestion, transformation and storage solutions for large‑scale datasets.
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers and product teams to deliver reliable, production‑ready data assets.
• Implement modern software‑engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD and version control.
• Monitor and improve platform reliability, observability and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in globally distributed teams.
• Hands‑on experience building complex data pipelines with PySpark and Airflow.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, and experience designing data models.
• Understanding of software‑engineering best practices (testing, CI/CD, code reviews).

Required skills

• Google Cloud Platform services: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer.
• Data engineering tools: PySpark, Airflow, dbt (preferred).
• Programming languages: Python, SQL.
• Data modelling and relational/distributed databases.
• CI/CD, version control, automated testing.
• Monitoring/observability tools (ELK Stack) and MLOps concepts.
• Familiarity with streaming technologies (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Dataflow) and AI services (Vertex AI, Dialogflow) is a plus.
