Compliance and Risk Manager – Turkey

About the role

The Compliance and Risk Manager in Turkey is accountable for designing and implementing AML/CFT compliance programmes, policies and practices so that all business units comply with Turkish regulations and Group policies. The role also identifies, analyses and documents regulatory risks across operations, compliance, finance and technology, and the candidate must meet the eligibility requirements for MLRO and Internal Control Officer appointments, including the MASAK MLRO licence.

Key responsibilities

• Establish financial crime policies and procedures in line with Group policy, Turkish law and guidelines, and advise the business
• Identify new regulatory developments and their impact on the business
• Develop a robust, sustainable AML control framework and monitor for money laundering and breaches of conduct of business rules
• Maintain KYC, CDD and EDD procedures and file mandatory regulatory reports with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance
• Manage regulatory inspections and act as the main contact for regulator queries
• Receive and analyse internal suspicious activity reports, cooperate with MASAK and deliver quarterly AML/CFT reports to the Board and Compliance Committee
• Develop and deliver AML/CFT training, keep records for the required retention period and review AML/CFT policies annually with gap analysis
• Ensure the business and its products are fully licensed and renew licences where needed
• Maintain the risk register, support the group ERM team and deliver quarterly risk reports to the board

Required profile

• BS degree (4 years or more)
• 10+ years of experience in audit, internal control or compliance in a financial institution
• Excellent knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and general business practices
• Ability to work independently and in a team, and to stay calm under pressure
• Eligibility for MLRO and Internal Control Officer appointments, including the MASAK MLRO licence
