Data Engineer

About the role

Cypher Games is looking for a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data platform that powers game‑related decisions. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and analysts to deliver reliable, scalable data pipelines and clean datasets that enable faster product and analytics work.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for game services, third‑party platforms, and internal systems.
• Build and optimise the data warehouse and analytical data models for reporting and product insights.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across the entire data platform.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve production data workflows.
• Collaborate with product, backend, and analytics teams to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions.
• Optimise data processing performance and cloud infrastructure costs.
• Iteratively improve data architecture as the player base and game portfolio grow.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a keen attention to data quality.
• Passion for games and data‑driven product development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT concepts, and event‑based analytics.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Hands‑on experience with BigQuery, Airflow (or similar orchestration tools), and Git.
• Familiarity with transformation frameworks such as dbt.
• Knowledge of streaming and messaging systems like Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and infrastructure automation.
