Data Scientist – LLM & Generative AI (RAG)

About the role

OREDATA is seeking a Data Scientist specialized in Large Language Models and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation to join its aviation‑industry client. You will design, develop and optimise AI‑driven conversational solutions that leverage both structured and unstructured data.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and improve LLM‑based and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
• Lead the creation of internal chat‑bot and conversational AI products.
• Prepare, retrieve, enrich and optimise knowledge sources from diverse data formats.
• Enhance LLM performance through prompt engineering, retrieval optimisation, model selection and output quality analysis.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data and business teams to translate requirements into practical AI solutions.
• Contribute to the technical design of generative AI systems, ensuring scalability, maintainability, security and operational feasibility.
• Support broader data and AI initiatives beyond RAG‑focused projects.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest developments in generative AI, LLMs, agentic systems and related technologies.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, AI, data engineering or software development.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Large Language Models and generative AI use cases.
• Proven ability to design, build and improve RAG‑based applications.
• Experience with embeddings, vector search, document retrieval, chunking strategies and prompt engineering.
• Ability to assess AI solutions architecturally while remaining actively involved in implementation.
• Curiosity about emerging generative‑AI concepts such as AI agents, tool use and modern RAG approaches.
