Design Engineer – Aircraft & Engine Components

About the role

The Turkiye Technology Center, a joint venture of General Electric Aviation, GE MTC and TEI, is seeking Design Engineers (or Lead Design Engineers) to develop and analyse aircraft and industrial engine components at its new technology hub in Kartal, Istanbul. The role focuses on structural and rotating parts for gas‑turbine engines, supporting both new designs and fielded product improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform component‑level design assessments for hardware such as combustors, compressors, turbines, fans, blades, vanes, cases, disks, seals and shafts.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve manufacturing issues and drive improvement actions.
• Conduct stress, life and fatigue analyses to support engine certification, optimisation and test capability assessments.
• Interpret Federal Aviation Authority requirements for redesigns and ensure compliance.
• Support design reviews at multiple stages and mentor less‑experienced engineers.
• Document technical data in line with engineering policies and procedures.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• 1‑5 years of hands‑on experience designing and analysing structural or rotating parts.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Ability to work in multicultural teams and adapt to flexible work styles.
• Understanding of Lean principles or willingness to learn.
• Project management and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with NX and ANSYS for 3‑D modelling and finite‑element analysis.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience in aviation, gas‑turbine or internal‑combustion‑engine design is a plus.
