Executive Cost Accountant (Manufacturing)

About the role

SML Labels, a global apparel branding and packaging solutions company, is looking for a Manufacturing Cost Accountant. The role covers accurate manufacturing cost accounting, standard and actual product costing, inventory valuation, COGS and cost analysis, and supports financial and operational decisions through variance analysis, procurement and landed-cost analysis and profitability reporting. It reports to the Finance Manager and works closely with Production, Procurement, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Engineering and Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate and maintain standard and actual manufacturing costs (raw materials, direct labour, overhead) and validate BOMs, routing times, labour rates and overhead allocation
• Analyse production capacity utilisation, efficiency and under-/over-absorption of overhead
• Maintain cost-centre structures and costing master data in LOGO and Microsoft Dynamics 365
• Close manufacturing costs monthly, reconcile inventory and COGS, investigate discrepancies and support physical stock counts
• Analyse inventory ageing, slow-moving and obsolete items and recommend write-downs or reversals
• Ensure compliance with Turkish accounting regulations, the 7A chart of accounts, IAS 2 / TMS 2 and group policies
• Calculate and reconcile landed costs, evaluate suppliers and analyse the financial impact of inventory levels and purchasing conditions
• Analyse standard vs actual costs (price, usage, labour efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap, efficiency variances) and investigate deviations
• Prepare monthly cost, variance and profitability reports, support budgeting and forecasting, and track cost-reduction initiatives

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting, preferably in an industrial production environment
• Good understanding of production processes, BOMs, routing, material consumption and capacity utilisation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills, attention to detail, and good command of written and spoken English

Required skills

• Standard costing, actual costing, overhead allocation, inventory valuation and cost variance analysis
• Knowledge of the Turkish Uniform Chart of Accounts (7A) and IAS 2 / TMS 2
• Hands-on experience with LOGO / LOGO Tiger ERP; Microsoft Dynamics 365 manufacturing, inventory and costing preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis
