Game Designer - PC & Console

About the role

Indie Souls Studio is an independent game studio made by a small team of experienced developers and backed by private investment. It makes high-quality, original games for PC and consoles, with its first title shipping on Steam in 2026. The studio is looking for a game designer to design its next games from the first idea to launch, working directly with the founders and the development team and owning design decisions from prototype to release.

Key responsibilities

• Turn new game ideas from paper into a playable prototype.
• Design, playtest and tune the core loop, the systems and the levels.
• On co-op projects, design around what makes playing together fun.
• Turn player reviews and data from released games into design decisions.
• Write the design document and keep it alive throughout production.

Required profile

• Open to all experience levels; portfolio and view of the genre matter more than title.
• Enjoys games such as Unpacking, PowerWash Simulator, Stardew Valley, A Little to the Left, Overcooked and It Takes Two, and can explain why they work.
• Excited by the idea of making several small, good games rather than one huge one.
• At least one shipped or playable piece of work: a game, a mod, a jam entry or a prototype.
• Able to explain a system in writing and in diagrams.

Required skills

• Comfortable in the Unity editor (scenes, prefabs, etc.)
• Comfortable weighing player feedback with data, not opinion
