Head of Development

About the role

AppNation is seeking a Head of Development to lead its engineering organization and deliver AI‑powered mobile products used by millions worldwide. You will oversee Backend, Mobile, Frontend, and QA teams, shaping technical strategy from architecture to product launch.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive engineering strategy, architecture, and technology roadmap across all products.
• Lead execution across Backend, Frontend, Mobile, and QA from planning through delivery.
• Raise engineering standards through hands‑on leadership, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Build scalable, secure, high‑performance systems while improving reliability and developer productivity.
• Leverage AI‑powered development tools and workflows to accelerate delivery.
• Partner with Product, Data, AI, Marketing, and leadership to align technology with business goals.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in an engineering leadership role.
• Strong communication skills, ownership mindset, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven ability to lead teams, make technical decisions, and deliver high‑quality products at scale.

Required skills

• Node.js, distributed systems, microservices, event‑driven architectures.
• Cloud platforms: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Flutter or native iOS/Android development lifecycle knowledge.
• Modern engineering practices: AI‑powered development tools, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure.
