Junior Legal Counsel

About the role

Karadeniz Holding, a group focused on energy and shipbuilding operating in more than 20 countries, is looking for a Junior Legal Counsel for its Legal department in the Istanbul Kağıthane headquarters. The role supports senior legal counsel and covers contract work, compliance and day-to-day legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate contracts across business units under the supervision of senior legal counsel.
• Support corporate governance and monitor compliance for Group companies across multiple jurisdictions.
• Provide day-to-day legal support to senior counsel and the technical, commercial and business unit teams through contractual processes.
• Draft reports, opinions, correspondence and other documents.
• Conduct legal research and monitor changes in legislation and regulation.
• Give practical, commercially minded legal advice to operational functions.
• Represent the company and interface with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in law from a leading university with bar admission; LL.M is a plus.
• 1 to 3 years' experience in corporate law, commercial law, financing or a related field; experience in power generation, energy, shipping or infrastructure, or as a legal counsel in international law firms, is an advantage.
• Strong written and spoken English is a must.
• No restriction to domestic and international travel when required.

• Strong drafting and negotiation skills, attention to detail and sound judgement.
• Understanding of commercial and legal risk in complex contracts and ability to give business-oriented advice.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines, and to collaborate across teams and time zones.
• Research and analytical skills, proactive attitude and strong communication with multinational counterparts.
