Project Design Authority

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly motivated Project Design Authority to lead the technical delivery of railway signalling projects. You will coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure successful design outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage technical aspects of projects and conduct meetings with customers.
• Prepare and present technical project reports, including progress updates, risks, and solutions.
• Develop project‑specific design documentation for internal use and customer delivery.
• Organise and lead cross‑functional meetings with engineering, project management and technical teams.
• Analyse customer requirements in collaboration with technical departments and report outcomes.
• Provide regular updates and technical guidance to field teams.
• Prepare Design Validation (DVA) documentation for bids.
• Identify risks and improvement opportunities and ensure compliance with quality policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of hands‑on experience in interlocking and ERTMS/ETCS systems.
• Deep knowledge of railway mainline signalling systems; experience in signalling field operations is mandatory.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken); Spanish is a plus.
• Valid driver’s licence and no travel restrictions.

Required skills

• High‑level proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Advanced use of MS Office.
• Expertise in interlocking systems.
• Experience with ERTMS/ETCS signalling technology.
