Purchasing Specialist - Import & Customs

About the role

Reed Turkey is recruiting a Purchasing Specialist for its global client in the manufacturing industry. The role covers domestic and international purchase orders, import and customs clearance, supplier negotiations and import documentation. It is based in Ankara or adaptable to company transportation routes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage domestic and international purchase orders according to requirements from the Planning Department or the ERP system, and follow up on approvals and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate end-to-end import and customs clearance for components from international suppliers, working with customs brokers, freight forwarders and warehouses.
• Resolve customs, documentation and regulatory issues proactively so materials reach production on time.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery conditions with domestic and international vendors.
• Obtain freight quotations, compare them and help optimise transportation costs.
• Prepare import documentation (customs declarations, invoices, packing lists) and keep accurate ERP entries, coordinating with finance.
• Monitor supplier performance on cost, quality and delivery, and support the evaluation of alternative suppliers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in procurement, supply chain and foreign trade.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical), International Trade, International Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
• 3-5 years of technical procurement experience in manufacturing, with import, export and customs operations.
• Advanced written and spoken English, able to negotiate with international suppliers, customs brokers and logistics providers.
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, Incoterms and payment methods such as Letters of Credit.
• For male candidates, military service must be completed or exempt.

Required skills

• ERP systems, especially Procurement, Inventory Management and Foreign Trade modules; Canias ERP experience is an asset.
• Analytical thinking, negotiation, communication, problem-solving and crisis management.
