Senior Hardware Design Engineer

About the role

An expanding team is looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to help develop hardware products. The engineer works on digital and analog high-density multi-layer PCBs and modules supporting large system deployments, and collaborates with manufacturing and testing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and take part in hardware product development activities.
• Write requirements, specifications and verification tests for system hardware.
• Design, test, debug, repair and modify digital and analog high-density multi-layer PCBs and modules.
• Research and select PCB components, place them, route the boards and prepare design release documentation.
• Run diagnostic software and other test programs for PCB and system-level testing.
• Keep records of all prototypes using tracking software and support manufacturing testing and debugging in prototype and production.
• Support circuit board fabrication and manage the electronics manufacturing process.

Required profile

• B.Sc. and/or M.Sc. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or another relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in board design.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask across several projects, and collaborate remotely within a multi-site team with little supervision.

Required skills

• Advanced use of board design tools such as Mentor PADS, Altium Designer and LTSpice.
• HDI knowledge: layer stackups, impedance, blind and buried vias, via-in-pad.
• High-speed interface design and signal integrity, analog signal conditioning (ADC/DAC).
• Familiarity with Ethernet and PCIe Gen2/3/4, and FPGA-based systems including large-pin-count FPGA SoCs and DDR3/4.
• Reading schematics and datasheets, and familiarity with PCB fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Preferred: digital logic design with FPGAs/CPLDs, and experience with DO-254, MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-810F, MIL-STD-704C and MIL-STD-1553.
