Senior Python Developer – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join a remote‑first team building a next‑generation mobile app for a professional football club. You will design and implement robust backend services, integrate AI‑powered features and create scalable APIs that power fan engagement and monetisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python with FastAPI or Flask.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs for mobile features, fan engagement and digital services.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities from providers such as OpenAI or Hugging Face.
• Develop asynchronous data flows and ensure reliable communication between components.
• Design, optimise and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT) following data‑privacy best practices.
• Containerise applications with Docker and support cloud deployment on Microsoft Azure.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, testing and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience building production‑ready Python backend systems.
• Strong knowledge of FastAPI or Flask and RESTful API design.
• Hands‑on experience integrating AI services via APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.).
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, JSON data exchange and efficient processing.
• Experience with relational and/or non‑relational databases.
• Familiarity with Docker, cloud deployment and CI/CD pipelines; Azure experience is a plus.
• Good grasp of application security, authentication protocols and data protection.
• Effective communication, ability to work independently in a remote international team.
