Senior Software Engineer with Accounting Experience

About the role

Sezzle is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who brings both software development expertise and accounting/finance knowledge. You will design, develop, and optimise systems that power financial reporting, reconciliation and automation workflows for a fast‑growing fintech platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain high‑impact services for financial reporting, reconciliation and automation using Go, Python and SQL.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Finance and other cross‑functional teams to ensure data integrity and compliance with enterprise‑grade standards.
• Mentor junior engineers, shape technical direction and own end‑to‑end delivery of features.
• Develop REST APIs, distributed micro‑services and cloud‑native solutions on AWS/Kubernetes.
• Implement observability, monitoring and alerting using Prometheus, NewRelic or Datadog.

Required profile

• 7+ years of full‑stack software engineering experience, preferably with a background in accounting or finance.
• Proven ability to lead projects, build consensus and deliver high‑quality, testable code.
• Experience working with large language model tools such as Claude to boost productivity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

Required skills

• Go (Golang) and REST API development.
• Python, Java, Typescript (React/React Native) for backend and frontend work.
• SQL databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch.
• Container orchestration with Kubernetes on AWS.
• Observability tools: Prometheus, NewRelic, Datadog.
• CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Git.
