Software Engineer - Remote

About the role

ottoHR is looking for a full-time remote Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain the back-end services of its HR platform and its AI assistant, with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability. The role sits within a unified platform covering hiring, onboarding, time tracking, payroll and benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Implement new features and enhance existing APIs
• Integrate with third-party services and write clean, testable code
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers on requirements, code reviews and architecture
• Improve developer tooling and workflows, and monitor systems in production
• Resolve issues to keep the customer experience secure and seamless

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience building HR, payroll or enterprise SaaS products
• Ability to write tests, debug complex issues and optimise performance in distributed systems
• Effective communication and collaboration in a remote team, including code reviews

Required skills

• Back-end web development with RESTful or GraphQL APIs and server-side frameworks
• A modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or Go
• Object-oriented programming and familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Git and CI/CD pipelines; cloud platforms or containerisation (AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial
