Staff Research Engineer – AI & Machine Learning

About the role

Gramian Consulting Group is seeking a Staff Research Engineer to drive research and practical innovation in frontier AI systems. You will explore high‑impact questions, design rigorous experiments, and build research‑grade prototypes that translate into scalable AI products.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate capabilities, limitations, and training methods of cutting‑edge AI models and formulate research questions that shape product strategy.
• Develop datasets, experiments, prototypes, tooling, and evaluation frameworks for synthetic/agentic data generation, reinforcement learning, post‑training, model understanding, and AI evaluation.
• Analyze results, ensure reproducibility, and communicate findings to cross‑functional teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical reports, publications, or open‑source projects.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or Master’s in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience with significant research engineering work on frontier AI systems.
• Strong scientific judgment regarding experimental rigor, data quality, and evidence‑based decision making.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Experience with modern AI/ML frameworks and research tooling.
