Test Automation and Quality Manager

About the role

Intertech is seeking a senior Test Automation and Quality Manager to lead the quality engineering strategy for complex banking and enterprise systems. You will shape testing practices, build high‑performing teams and drive cultural change toward engineering‑owned quality.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a test pyramid, automation coverage targets, environment and test data strategies, and shift‑left practices.
• Build and lead a team of test automation engineers and quality coaches, establishing standards, career paths and ways of working.
• Design and deliver automation platforms (API, UI, contract, performance, security) integrated into CI/CD pipelines with clear quality gates.
• Reduce long‑running manual regression cycles through risk‑based test selection, parallelisation and automation, measuring cycle time and defect escape rate.
• Own quality metrics and reporting (coverage, flakiness, defect leakage, MTTR, release readiness) and make quality visible to management.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Release Management and Platform teams on environment provisioning, feature flags, versioning and safe continuous delivery.
• Evaluate and introduce tooling, including AI‑assisted test generation, where it yields measurable productivity gains.

Required profile

• 10+ years in software quality and test engineering, with at least 4 years managing test automation teams for enterprise or banking systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Proven track record of moving organisations from manual, late‑stage testing to engineering‑owned quality.
• Banking or financial services experience, including regulatory and audit testing evidence.

Required skills

• Automation frameworks and tools: Playwright, Selenium, RestAssured, Postman, Karate.
• Performance testing tools: JMeter, k6, Gatling.
• Programming languages: C# or Java, experience in .NET ecosystems.
• CI/CD pipelines: Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab (or similar).
• Containerised test environments, test data and environment management.
• Observability‑driven quality (synthetic monitoring, production testing).
• ISTQB Advanced or Expert level certification.
