VAT Manager – Indirect Tax Planning (EU)

About the role

Amazon is seeking a VAT Manager to lead indirect tax planning and compliance for its Stores business in Turkey and support broader Pan‑EU and EMEA retail projects. The role combines strategic advisory work with hands‑on management of audit and controversy matters, requiring close collaboration with local business partners and tax authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑depth VAT technical advice on Turkish and cross‑border matters, evaluating business initiatives and transactions.
• Support complex audit and controversy projects, engaging proactively with the Turkish Revenue Administration.
• Assist the VAT Compliance Team on strategic compliance topics and coordinate tax‑related projects across the business.
• Draft documentation to support analyses, decisions, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Accounting and other cross‑functional teams for new business launches and ongoing operations.
• Manage stakeholder networks and communicate complex VAT concepts to non‑tax professionals.

Required profile

• Strong strategic thinking and ability to manage senior stakeholders.
• Extensive experience with Turkish VAT and indirect tax.
• Fluent in both English and Turkish.
• Background in a global consulting firm, law firm or blue‑chip commercial organisation; retail or e‑commerce experience is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented and capable of working under tight timelines.
