Assistant Commercial Construction Superintendent

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Commercial Construction Superintendent to support the management of commercial construction projects from planning through completion. The role involves daily scheduling, supervising on‑site activities, and ensuring safety and compliance on the job site.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the construction site, coordinating with subcontractors and the Project Manager.
• Monitor safety compliance, site cleanliness, and orderliness.
• Estimate, order, and coordinate materials as required.
• Review plans with architects and the Project Manager to confirm scope of work.
• Communicate with city officials regarding codes, inspections, and permits.
• Identify potential gaps in plans that could cause construction issues.
• Utilize scheduling and reporting software to generate job reports and photos.
• Review submittals, invoices and allocate them to appropriate divisions.
• Supervise multiple projects simultaneously when needed.
• Track changes to plans and produce as‑built documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor workmanship quality and research improved processes or materials.
• Maintain positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and owners, and keep the client informed of progress.
• Process field change orders as required.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience on commercial construction sites.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organised and efficient work style.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience using cloud‑based construction management software.
