AWS Serverless Backend Engineer (TypeScript)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced contract software engineer to own, maintain, and scale our AWS Lambda‑based backend architecture. You will work on the edge layer of the system, handling event‑driven orchestrations, API routing, and integrations with cloud services such as AWS Control Tower.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise TypeScript AWS Lambda handlers for API requests, event processing and Step Functions orchestration.
• Manage multi‑cloud provisioning workflows for account onboarding and SSO setup across AWS and Azure, including app registration, certificate handling and role synchronization.
• Process async payloads from SQS and SNS to trigger or advance multi‑step state machines.
• Build scheduled data‑reconciliation jobs and DynamoDB housekeeping (TTL, archival, expiry notifications).
• Support the HTTP RPC layer with strict CORS configuration and router/context handling.
• Connect event pipelines to external systems such as ServiceNow to create operational tickets.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests for every handler using Jest.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of core AWS services, especially AWS Control Tower, networking and security.
• Expert‑level TypeScript experience for serverless back‑ends.
• Extensive hands‑on use of AWS SDK v3 for DynamoDB, SQS, SNS and Step Functions.
• Proven ability to design, test and optimise serverless architectures and Lambda lifecycles.
• Experience automating Azure AD / Entra ID app registrations, SAML/OIDC configurations or multi‑account IAM provisioning.
