Data Privacy Lawyer (Assistant / Senior)

About the role

EY's Law Department in Istanbul is looking for a Senior Lawyer and an Assistant Lawyer to advise clients on technology law, including data protection, AI, e-commerce and cyber security. The lawyer contributes technically to client engagements and internal projects, prepares legal opinions and documents, and keeps client files up to date.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on technology law, including data protection, AI, e-commerce and cyber security
• Take part in data protection projects (KVKK and GDPR): draft privacy notices, policies and agreements, negotiate data protection agreements and terms of service, and take part in meetings
• Take part in e-commerce and data privacy audits and prepare data protection impact assessment reports
• Work as a team member, share responsibility, update colleagues on progress and assist in preparing reports and schedules for clients
• Review and look after client files, ensuring all relevant communications, QRM reviews and approvals are present
• Contribute to performance reviews, people initiatives such as recruiting and retaining lawyers, and educational programmes

Required profile

• University degree in law from a reputable Turkish university
• 1-3 years of full-time experience as an in-house lawyer or in a law firm, focusing on corporate and compliance matters, with expertise in data protection and privacy
• Strong knowledge of KVKK, GDPR and CCPA, AI and cyber security law, digital law, the Turkish Commercial Code and the Code of Obligations
• CIPP/E and ISO27701 certificates are an asset
• Fluent Turkish and English, able to work in a multicultural business environment; male candidates must have completed military service
