Design Engineer - Powertrain and Vehicle Components

About the role

AVL is looking for a Design Engineer who designs powertrain and vehicle components and integrates them into commercial vehicle platforms. The engineer also prepares component models and technical drawings, quality documentation and test plans, and checks new builds on site.

Key responsibilities

• Design powertrain and vehicle components and integrate them into commercial vehicle platforms
• Create component models and prepare technical drawings
• Prepare quality documentation such as boundary diagrams, P diagrams, robustness checklists, FMEAs and test plans
• Assess test and simulation results and define next steps
• Plan and coordinate own work and that of others to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
• Inspect new vehicle and powertrain builds on site for compliance with the design and communicate required changes to stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive or Electrical Engineering
• At least 3 years of experience in system and component design of vehicles and/or powertrains in the automotive industry
• Open to frequent travel within Turkey
• Fluent English and excellent writing skills; German is a plus

Required skills

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Catia V6/V5 CAD tools, including technical drawings
• Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
• Thorough knowledge of at least two of: vehicle integration, powertrain integration, plastic parts design, steel parts design, casting parts design, thermal system design, suspension system design, wiring harness design, electrical systems and schematics, GD&T
