About the role
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) seeks a Human Resources Officer to support its staff in Istanbul. Working within the Human Resources Section of the Executive Office, the incumbent will advise managers and staff on HR matters and help implement UN HR policies across headquarters and field operations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide advice and support to managers and staff on human resources related matters.
- Interpret and implement HR policies, especially for HQ and field contexts.
- Review and advise on requests for policy exceptions, regulations, and rules.
- Assist in drafting comments on Staff Regulations, Staff Rules, and Administrative Instructions.
- Support investigations of misconduct allegations and communicate outcomes.
- Contribute to workplace‑concern initiatives and promote a harmonious work environment.
- Prepare special reports, briefing notes, and talking points for senior management.
- Stay updated on HR policy developments and advise on recruitment selections.
Required profile
- Works under the overall supervision of the Chief of Human Resources.
- Reports to the Human Resources Officer, Head of the HR Policy Unit (P‑4 level).
- Temporary position within OCHA’s HR Section.
