Linux Administrator – Puppet (Mid‑Level)

About the role

Avenga is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator with strong Puppet expertise to join its global infrastructure team. You will be responsible for the stability, security, and performance of Linux‑based systems across both physical and virtual environments, working closely with engineering and operations colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux/Unix servers in physical and virtual environments.
• Monitor system health (CPU, memory, storage, network) and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Implement security hardening, manage user access, and ensure timely patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Develop and maintain backup procedures and test disaster‑recovery processes.
• Automate routine tasks using Bash, Perl or similar scripting languages.
• Collaborate with teams to optimise infrastructure and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of enterprise‑level Linux/Unix administration experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Puppet for configuration management (mandatory).
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls).
• Proactive attitude toward system health, security, and performance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Linux operating system administration (kernel tuning, LVM, RAID).
• Scripting with Bash and Perl.
• Puppet configuration management.
• Networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewall configuration.
• Security hardening and patch management.
• Backup and disaster‑recovery procedures.
