Process Engineer (Biotechnology)

About the role

Livzym Biotechnologies, founded in 2014 and based in Tuzla, Istanbul, is Turkey's first and only domestic industrial enzyme manufacturer, producing industrial enzymes, postbiotics and alternative proteins by precision fermentation. The Process Engineer joins the production team and is responsible for executing upstream and downstream fermentation processes in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while reporting production and process data. The role combines active operational oversight with hands-on involvement in process automation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee production activities according to SOPs, supporting efficient, high-quality and sustainable operations through process excellence and continuous improvement.
• Plan fermentation processes (upstream and downstream), ensure they follow operational instructions and quality requirements, and prepare relevant reports.
• Take part in automation systems, monitoring and recording process parameters and contributing to process improvements.
• Work closely with production, maintenance and quality teams.
• Analyze deviations and equipment failures, identify root causes and lead corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare and present production reports and process data to senior management regularly.
• Stay on the production floor and support weekend production when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering or a related field.
• Preferably 2 years of experience in production or bioprocess engineering; aseptic production experience is an advantage.
• Advanced English proficiency in reading, writing and speaking.
• Strong teamwork, analytical thinking, attention to detail and a meticulous approach.

Required skills

• Knowledge of automation systems and process control.
• Familiarity with PID, SCADA and PLC systems is an advantage.
