Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead the school’s finance function, overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting and cash‑flow management while ensuring compliance with Turkish accounting standards and educational regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, process accounts payable and receivable, and perform bank reconciliations.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing activities and prepare accurate financial statements.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow monitoring for the school.
• Ensure compliance with Turkish accounting standards, tax regulations, and audit requirements.
• Review and improve internal controls, support external audits, and provide financial analysis to school leadership.
• Record tuition, fees and other school‑related revenues and expenses accurately.
• Collaborate with administration and department heads to prepare management reports and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in full‑cycle accounting, financial reporting and budgeting.
• Solid knowledge of Turkish accounting standards and tax regulations, especially for educational institutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or SMMM certification is a plus.
• Several years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with senior or supervisory responsibilities.
• Fluency in English and Turkish, with ability to prepare and explain financial documents in both languages.
• High integrity, confidentiality and sound judgment handling sensitive financial information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for analysis, reconciliations and reporting.
• Experience in financial analysis and variance identification.
