Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to own and evolve our critical Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, ensuring high availability, performance and security for enterprise‑level solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and operate SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases across development, test, UAT, production and disaster‑recovery environments.
• Run and monitor high‑availability architectures such as SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and PostgreSQL Patroni clusters.
• Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, patching and modernization of legacy systems.
• Manage backup, restore, point‑in‑time recovery, log shipping and DR processes, and conduct annual DR tests.
• Analyze and tune performance using execution plans, Query Store, DMVs, wait statistics, pg_stat_statements, vacuum and bloat analysis.
• Optimize stored procedures and complex queries, establishing coding and review standards with development teams.
• Monitor and improve CDC and logical replication pipelines, including replication slots and WAL retention.
• Build a central PostgreSQL toolkit for inventory, health, backups, replication, CDC status, maintenance and alerting.
• Automate repetitive tasks with scripts, jobs and self‑service tooling.
• Own end‑to‑end change, incident and problem management, including root‑cause analysis and post‑incident reporting.

Required profile

• 5+ years professional DBA experience with a degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Strong background in advanced administration of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with high‑availability solutions (SQL Server Always On AG, Patroni HA clusters) and disaster‑recovery processes.
• Proven performance‑tuning expertise for both SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Solid knowledge of backup/recovery, WAL management, vacuum/autovacuum and replication.
• Linux administration skills and automation using Bash or Python.
• Ability to write technical documentation and operational runbooks.
