Associate Programme Officer, Partnerships

About the role

The Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries, established by UN General Assembly resolution 71/251 in 2016, works to strengthen science, technology and innovation capacity in least developed countries. Its work is guided by the Strategic Plan 2025-2027, covering policy and advisory services, capacity building and knowledge services. This Associate Programme Officer position is in the Programme Unit in Gebze, Turkey, and reports to the Economic Affairs Officer, P-4.

Key responsibilities

• Support the FRO in working with key clients to develop, implement and evaluate programmes and projects, turning objectives into annual work plans and monitoring progress
• Promote adaptive management, results-based management and continuous improvement, and track progress against outputs, outcomes and indicators
• Assist in stakeholder coordination, field missions, surveys and data collection, and prepare preliminary conclusions from data analysis
• Help design and prepare national, regional and multi-country projects, including concept notes, project documents and resource mobilization materials
• Assist in selecting partners, overseeing implementation by grant recipients and supporting procurement and contracting
• Monitor expenditures against budgets, coordinate budget funding documents and prepare donor reports, funding proposals and briefings
• Provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation, and help write background papers, analytical notes and knowledge-sharing materials
• Contribute to outreach, training workshops, presentations and promotional materials, and carry out basic research and data visualization

Required profile

• Knowledge of programme and project management concepts, especially in science, technology and innovation
• Ability to support planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of development projects and programmes
• Ability to identify implementation issues and analyse them
