Java Developer Associate (Remote, Turkey)

About the role

A partner company is looking for a Java Developer Associate based in Turkey to join a remote team. You will help develop and maintain desktop and web applications using Core Java, web technologies and Java frameworks, working with senior team members. The role suits someone wanting to strengthen their technical skills in an international remote setting, with flexible weekend scheduling and an initial part-time commitment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve desktop and web applications using Core Java and Java SE, applying object-oriented programming principles.
• Build and maintain web applications with JSP and Servlets, following the MVC pattern where appropriate.
• Work with Java frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate or Struts.
• Develop applications for Windows, macOS and Linux environments.
• Integrate RESTful web services and APIs, and use JavaScript, CSS and web technologies to improve functionality and user interfaces.
• Use IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse or NetBeans to develop, debug and maintain software.
• Collaborate with senior team members, follow technical instructions and support testing and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• At least 2.5 years of relevant professional development experience.
• Practical experience building desktop and web applications for Windows, macOS and Linux.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team, with availability of about 20 hours per week initially, morning shifts in the Eastern Time Zone and flexibility for weekends.

Required skills

• Core Java and Java SE, including Java 8+ features such as lambdas and streams.
• JSP and Servlets, and the MVC design pattern.
• RESTful web services and APIs; basic to intermediate JavaScript and CSS.
• An IDE (IntelliJ IDEA preferred); React, Angular or Vue.js is an advantage.
• SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and ORM tools are preferred; Git, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and cloud platforms are beneficial.
• JUnit or TestNG, and Selenium, are preferred.
