Lead Engineer - Rotor Mechanical Design (Hybrid)

About the role

GE Aerospace Turkey is looking for a Lead Engineer for rotor mechanical design, working in its Istanbul, Kartal engineering centre. The role supports the design, development and improvement of rotor hardware and mechanical systems for aerospace products, covering both new product development and technical improvement of existing components. It sits within the Advanced Mechanical Design teams and works on next-generation engine programs and technology demonstrators.

Key responsibilities

• Create and update component designs and support analysis and validation
• Support design review cycles, hardware releases and test support for technology demonstrator rigs, ground tests and flight-test demo engines
• Plan and execute design activities within established engineering processes, standards and functional practices
• Resolve technical issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as stress, manufacturing, quality and systems engineering
• Apply sound technical judgment to routine design decisions and escalate complex issues

Required profile

• BSc and/or MSc in Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited institution
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical component design, ideally including rotor hardware or turbomachinery
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong cross-functional teamwork and communication
• Self-motivated, accountable and able to work under tight, fluctuating schedules
• Ability to guide and influence others; preferred

Required skills

• CAD modelling and simulation tools (familiarity or ability to learn)
• Preferred: project management skills, understanding of manufacturing methods and design for producibility
