Safety & Quality Manager – Level-4 Autonomous Driving

About the role

ADASTEC develops SAE Level-4 automated driving software platforms for commercial vehicles, with buses on public roads in 14 countries. This Safety & Quality Manager owns the safety and quality management system for the company's Level-4 ADS, acting as the main interface to assessors, certification bodies and regulators, and supporting field safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the safety lifecycle (ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO 22737, UL 4600), cybersecurity governance (ISO/SAE 21434) and process quality framework (ISO 9001, Automotive SPICE).
• Plan safety and quality activities for each project and release, track them to completion and escalate when a release is not ready.
• Act as the primary interface to external safety assessors, consultancies, certification bodies and type-approval authorities, including audits and closing findings.
• Manage the safety and quality relationship with OEMs and integration partners, including joint hazard analysis and field issue handling.
• Own the safety case and ensure engineering evidence is traceable and defensible.
• Support field safety and quality, lead the safety and quality studies, and report status, risks and open issues to management.
• Provide safety and quality input to tenders, customer documentation and operational safety agreements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; MSc is an advantage.
• 8+ years of experience in automotive or another safety-critical domain, especially ADAS/AD, autonomous vehicles or robotics.
• Minimum 2 years of team leadership or end-to-end process ownership.
• Proven, hands-on experience engaging directly with regulatory authorities, technical services or independent assessors (mandatory).
• Experience in a fast-paced start-up or scale-up is preferred; no travel restrictions.
• Excellent English, German or Dutch is an advantage.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO 22737, UL 4600 and ISO/SAE 21434 applied to Level-4 ADS.
• Familiarity with automated vehicle approval routes (EU Implementing Regulation 2022/1426, UNECE regulations).
• Process quality: ISO 9001, Automotive SPICE, CAPA, requirements traceability, configuration and change management.
• Able to structure, write and argue a safety case; strong planning, project management and stakeholder negotiation skills.
