Finance Associate

About the role

The Finance Associate will provide finance support services to the mission’s activities in Istanbul, under the direct supervision of the National Finance Officer and overall supervision of the Resources Management Officer in Ankara. The role involves ensuring accurate, timely financial transactions and compliance with IOM accounting rules.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare payment requests, verify supporting documents and invoices.
• Enter transactions in the WAVE system and reconcile payable/receivable vendor accounts.
• Monitor and follow up with the procurement department to clear commitments before month‑end.
• Deal with banks, monitor daily balances and ensure timely disbursements.
• Maintain proper filing of hard‑copy financial documents and ensure correctness of disbursements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; professional certification (Chartered Accountant or CPA) highly regarded.
• Minimum two years of finance and accounting experience, preferably with IOM accounting systems.
• Fluency in Turkish and English (oral and written).
• Strong communication skills, ability to work with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ORACLE accounting software.
• Experience using IOM’s computerized accounting system and WAVE.
• Advanced MS Excel and general MS Office skills.
