Service Technician Trainee

About the role

The Service Technician Trainee works in the Service & Construction Department, providing field support for water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems across client districts. Under supervision, the trainee assists with customer service, system maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate water leaks and sewer backups.
• Handle water quality complaints and perform disconnects/reconnects for customers.
• Read customer and interconnect meters, collect payments, and replace meters or meter boxes as needed.
• Flush water distribution systems and conduct valve surveys.
• Perform sanitary sewer manhole surveys and report unauthorized discharges to Regulatory Affairs.
• Execute minor repairs on water and sewer infrastructure.
• Complete field work orders and submit them to the service department.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• “D” Water and “D” Wastewater Certificates or equivalent TCEQ certifications preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.
• Good physical condition; ability to lift 25‑50 lb and work in adverse weather.
• Strong people skills for interaction with supervisors and customers.
