Assistant Information Systems Officer

About the role

The Assistant Information Systems Officer will support OCHA’s IT operations in Istanbul, reporting to the Head of the Administrative Unit. The role involves assisting in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of information systems that enable coordinated humanitarian response.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in preparing user requirements and technical specifications.
• Assist in the design, development and installation of information systems.
• Support analysis of system modules and develop enhancements under supervision.
• Conduct rigorous testing and validation of application software.
• Maintain assigned system components, provide operational support, and implement upgrades.
• Help prepare and maintain project plans, schedules, and related documentation.
• Identify resources, monitor timelines, report issues, and ensure quality assurance for deliverables.
• Write programs to interface with existing systems and ensure data security and integrity.
• Participate in developing disaster recovery plans and maintaining system documentation.
• Assist in procurement activities, including needs assessments and technical specifications.
• Support software performance monitoring and Helpdesk services.
• Facilitate communication between ITSD and clients, managing small to medium client accounts.

Required profile

• Works within delegated authority and reports to the Head of the Administrative Unit.
• Capable of supporting system development, testing, documentation, and client communication.
