Environmental and Social (E&S) Manager

About the role

The Environmental and Social (E&S) Manager at ACWA Power Türkiye ensures that the company’s power assets in Turkey comply with national regulations and the stringent standards of international lenders. The role safeguards the environment, manages social risks, and supports sustainable operation of power plants, transmission lines, and renewable projects.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Turkish environmental laws and international lender standards (IFC, EBRD, Equator Principles).
• Implement and maintain the project Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS).
• Manage and renew environmental permits and approvals.
• Monitor environmental impacts such as air, water, waste, noise, and biodiversity.
• Oversee contractor E&S performance during EPC and O&M phases.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and walkovers, stopping non‑compliant activities and ensuring corrective actions.
• Manage community engagement and operate the grievance mechanism for communities and workers.
• Prepare E&S reports for lenders, regulators, and audits.
• Advise project leadership on E&S risks and improvement opportunities.
• Deliver E&S training and awareness to staff and contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in environmental and social management, with at least 4 years of site‑based experience on energy, infrastructure or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, EBRD/Equator Principles, and Turkish environmental and labour regulations.
• Proven experience working with international lenders and managing audits.
• Fluent in English and Turkish, both written and spoken.
