Social Manager – Turkey (Sivas & Taşeli)

About the role

ACWA is seeking an experienced Social Manager to lead social performance, community relations, and stakeholder engagement for its projects in Sivas and Taşeli, Turkey. The role is site‑focused and ensures that all social commitments outlined in the project's environmental and social frameworks are effectively delivered.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate social commitments in line with ESIA, ESAP, RAP, LRP, CDP, ESMPs and the broader ESMS.
• Develop and implement Stakeholder Engagement Plans, maintain stakeholder mapping, and ensure ongoing consultation.
• Build and sustain relationships with local communities, authorities, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Oversee the grievance mechanism, recording, investigating, and closing community concerns.
• Support resettlement, livelihood restoration and community development programmes.
• Coordinate community investment, local employment and other social initiatives with project teams and partners.
• Plan and budget community relations and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Monitor emerging community issues and ensure appropriate follow‑up.
• Ensure compliance with Turkish regulations, IFC Performance Standards, EBRD Requirements, Equator Principles and lender conditions.
• Maintain accurate social and ESMS records, including grievance registers and corrective action reports.
• Audit contractor and subcontractor social performance and enforce ESMP/ESMS compliance.
• Deliver social induction, awareness and toolbox training to project personnel and subcontractors.
• Coordinate external consultants on social, community relations or stakeholder engagement tasks.
• Prepare social performance reports and provide updates to senior management.
• Monitor social investment budgets, expenditures and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Rural Development or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in community relations, social performance or stakeholder engagement.
• At least 3 years of experience in heavy industrial, infrastructure, energy or major project environments.
