Java Backend Engineer for Shipping Platform

About the role

Mercury Teknoloji is building a next‑generation shipping platform for life‑sciences and healthcare companies. As a Java Software Engineer (Backend) you will design, develop, and maintain the core services that enable secure, scalable, and high‑performance shipment handling.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and maintain micro‑service APIs using Java 9+, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps, and QA to deliver features from conception to production.
• Implement event‑driven messaging with Kafka and ensure observability through logging, metrics, and alerts.
• Work with DevOps to build CI/CD pipelines, containerize services with Docker, and support deployment on cloud platforms.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the Backend Chapter’s best‑practice guidelines.

Required profile

• 4‑7 years of backend development experience, at least 3 years with Java 9+.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong communication skills in English and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Passion for learning new technologies and staying current with industry trends.

Required skills

• Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Hibernate, JPA.
• RESTful API design, microservices architecture, Kafka messaging.
• PostgreSQL, Git, Linux shell scripting.
• CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• OAuth, JWT, unit testing, test‑driven development.
